Amenhotep IVAmenhotep’s name means “satisfaction of Amon” Amon is a god that the pharaoh did not want to associate with. Amenhotep changed his name to Akhenaton, which meant “efficient to Aten” which was a god that Akhenaton worshiped. Akhenaton changed the religion from the original deity to Aten. This changed their original polytheism beliefs. Akhenaton then moved the capital of Egypt to Akhenaton, instead of Thebes. This led to everybody losing their jobs, including some priests who lost their jobs because of the religion change.
But, as he began to focus more about his religion, he began to neglect his pharaoh duties. Egypt sooner began to lose all its power. |
The Middle Kingdom, or the "Golden Age"
The Middle Kingdom was called the golden age. This is because during this period, Egypt conquered many territories. Egypt’s armies gained control of Nubia to the south. The pharaohs added to the kingdoms wealth by requiring tribute, or forced payments from the people Egypt’s armies conquered. With all of the gained money, pharaohs made many improvements. The pharaohs added thousands of acres of land in addition to the farm land farmers already had to produce more crop production. They also had more channels and irrigation dams built. This would then supply more water. The pharaohs also ordered construction of a canal between the Nile River and the Red Sea so that it would be easy send goods through ships.

Envoys
Envoys can be marked as a major developments for ancient Egypt. This is because this marked the first time in history that separate nations worked together for the first time. McTighe, Jay, Dian Zike, Doug Fisher, and Nancy Frey state " These actions marked the first time in history that a group of nations tried to work together to reach common goals" This proves that envoys were a major developments because this was a major step for Egypt and all the nations that worked together.
Pyramid Methods
There are many methods and myths about how Egyptians built the pyramids. One method was that the pyramids were built by aliens! But that is the most unlikely method, and is more of a myth. The next method was that they used specialized ramps that they could use to drag things across the ramp. Another method most historians and scientists believed is that they used water and sand. The following YouTube video states that another method the Egyptians used was... " They likely carried the blocks on sled pulled by 100's workers... As the sled moved, they would pour the water in front of it to ease the sliding friction of the sand. By pouring just enough water onto the sand, they cut the force required to move the sled in half."

Egypt was known for there beautiful, but hard-to-build pyramids. It was hard to build these pyramids, and could take a very long time, but it would all pay off. From the book, "You Wouldn't Want to be a Pyramid Builder: A Hazardous Job You'd Rather Not Have" by Jacqueline Morley, on page 10 ,"Now you're one of 4,000 people working on a pyramid which could take 20 years to build." This mentions both that it will involve 4,000 people, and will take 20 years to build.
